Amphionis cuiusdam ex Bacchidarum genere filia fuit, quae quod clauda esset, et ob id a ceteris sperneretur Aetioni fil. Echecratis nupsit, eique puerum peperit, quem ab eventu Cypselum appellavit. Nam cum duo Corinthis reddita essent oracula, ut Labdae fil. Corinthi aliquando tyrannidem invaderet, missi sunt publico decreto decem viri; qui puerum interficerent. Verum cum forte puer ei, qui primus eum a matre acceperat, arrisisset, ille miserecordiâ motus adduci non potuit ut eum Occideret: quapropter illum altert tradidit, et ille rursus alii, atque ita infans per manus traditus, a decimo matri redditus est, nemine eum Interficere volente. Post haec illi egressi et pro foribus stantes sese mutuo, praecipue vero qui primus puerum acceperat, increpabant, quod eum ex convento non Occidisset. Quod cum audisset Labda, quae intus ad fores stabat, puerum in mensura frumentaria, quam Cypselum vocant Graeci, occultavit. Vide latius hanc Historiam apud Herod. l. 5. c. 92. Ob Servatum vero parentem, Cypseli posteri arcam s. mensuram hanc in Olympia dedicârunt affabre celatam, et Βουςτροφηδὰν inscriptam, quam graphice descripsit Paus.
